ANVERS. Bond for 1000 florins de change. black. Folds. Handwritten but very easily readable. Issued to finance the trade of the Imperial Company ship 'Comte de Zinzin d'Or', currently in London and sailing to Canton, China. The money was to travel on board the ship, to be used by the company's representative in Canton for purchase of goods for the return voyage. The ship was to return to Livorno or Trieste. In addition to the 1000 florins, the lady-investor had to pay a further 350 for insurance. A note at the bottom shows that only 233 florins was repaid to her, and that was five years later, in 1788. Signed by Comte Charles de Proli, an important figure in Antwerp business life at that time. Rare and interesting bond.
