Issued in the U.S.A. to finance the purchase of the reformed mission house in Tokyo. The building is illustrated on the certificate, as well as the Reverend Ambrose D. Gring and his wife. In 1879, they had sailed from San Francisco to Japan to create the first foreign mission of the Reformed Church.
