SAIGON. Action de F100. blue, green. No 90185. Folds and some faint staining at the upper left border. Founded St. Dizier, 1881, by Jules Rueff, a French merchant and ship-owner, and one of the pioneers of French influence in Indo-China (apart from other colonial ventures). Head office in Paris. This company greatly facilitated the spread of French trade in Indo-China by shipping services on the Mekong River and Tonlé Sap Lake. A popular feature was excursions from Saigon to Siem Reap, for Angkor. A very decorative share, showing four vignettes of the company's ships, for freight and passengers, and corner-vignettes of anchors and ropes. Elaborate flowery underprint in art nouveau/Jugendstil. This type has not seen by us before.
