KATANGA. ELISABETHVILLE. 6% Bond of £500, specimen. blue, black. Fold. The Union Minière was a very large company, formed in 1906, which developed the copper industry of Katanga into one of the world's largest mining concerns. Printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson since this was a bond issue intended to be quoted on the London Stock Exchange. Bond certificates of £20, £100 and £500 were printed, so this is the highest denomination. Certainly extremely rare.
