92 HAUTS-DE-SEINE. NANTERRE. Action de F500. brown, green. #1200. No 1084. Most attractive piece. Several hydro-glisseurs (hovercraft) travel along a tropical river. The architecture of a house by the river is oriental, and seems to refer to the Mekong delta, Indochina. Border with millet-plants and a dragon. Originally signed by the promoter, the Count Charles Alexandre de Lambert, a famous French aviation pioneer (the first person ever to fly around Paris). It was his idea to use the technology in aviation engines for ships. The result was the birth of the hovercraft, ideal for shipping in shallow waters. His ships were heavily used in some of the French colonies, in particular in the Mekong (Indochina), the Congo River and Central Africa and the Niger. His company was shut down by the Germans in 1941. Extremely rare.
