PARIS. Cert. d'Actions Ordinaires Nominatives de F500. 1. 1913, cap. F45.000.000. 2. 1919, cap. F75.000.000. Heavy folds with repaired splits. This bank was founded on the initiative of a French and Belgian industrialist (André Berthelot and Baron Empain) to rival the powerful Banque de l'Indochine. Foundedin 1913 in Peking, it quickly obtained the concession for several important public works in Peking and in some Chinese ports. During WWI, the bank expanded quickly, offering very favourable rates of interest to its clients. After the war, the Banque del'Indochine counterattacked and by 1921, the Banque Industrielle de Chine was in serious difficulties. Two years later, it was bankrupt. This lot includes, apart from the two different nominative shares also two different receipts issued by the bank.
