This rail line ran from the du Pont explosives works to Philadelphia. The president was Henry A. du Pont (1838-1926), one of the leading members of the du Pont family. It was he who showed du Pont the way into the 20th century, since it was on his initiative that the family company was converted into a joint stock company. He was not really a railway man, but part of his responsibilitiesin the family chemicals company was making the arrangements for rail transport. Out of this came his presidency of the railway company.
