LOWER CALIFORNIA. PHILADELPHIA. 100 Shares. multicolour. #7500. No 41. Large and detailed vignette of the mine in full colour. Lower California was, and still is today, part of Mexico. The silver mining operation was however financed with American capital. The company was founded by Joseph Headley Dulles, a great grandfather of John Foster Dulles (Eisenhower's Secretary of State). The company's headquarters was in Philadelphia and received financial backing from the firm of Junius Morgan, which later served as the basis of J.P. Morgan's banking business. The Triunfo mine owned 18 square miles in the southern part of the Californian peninsula. At one point, the Triunfo mines produced $20,000 in silver monthly. Most attractive and early Mexico-American stock. Only one other piece known to us, hence rarity 11.
