Through this certificate, the French company owned $100,000 or 8.33% of all preferred stock in the United States and Hayti Telegraph and Cable Co. Hayti is the indigenous name of Haiti as used by the Taino people, the principal inhabitants of the Caribbean until the arrival of the Europeans. This company was nominally an American firm but owned by the French. In 1896, the company linked the Caribbean and Venezuela telegraph cables to the New York - Brest (Fr.) cables. Became part of the All-America Cables. Not seen before by us.
