BRUXELLES. Action de Capital de F250. purple, yellow, black. #12448. No 11414. Folds. Large format. Although postwar pieces from this company are well known, this prewar issue is much rarer (previously, we had only seen an unissued specimen). Doubtless all issued pieces were exchanged after 1944. The company was formed in 1872,Brussels, and was the first real department store in Belgium. At first focusing on luxury clothing and textile goods, it soon added a large number of other quality goods. Up until the economic depression in the 1930s, it remained an elegant shopping spot for the wealthy, located near the Brussels Stock Exchange. It has been well known in Brussels since then for its great store, as pictured on the share. Also a vignette of St. Michel killing his dragon at the top of the share. Very attractive piece.
