SCOTLAND. BRUXELLES. 5 Actions de Capital de F100, printer proof. blue, pink. #30000. No 7. Superb large format design, with vignettes of a medallion of Elias Howe Jr, inventor and maker, of New York, a sewing-machine, a bicycle, and the company's factory in Glasgow. The company was formed in Scotland to exploit the Howe rights, by Firmin Mignot, businessman of Brussels, and François Fontaine, industrialist of Glasgow. All the actions ordinaires and most of the actions de capital were issued to these two men. One of the earliest bicycle company shares we have seen, and surely the earliest sewing-machine piece. This is a unique unissued printer proof from the (small) Bourlard printer archive.
