Obligation de F500. orange, brown, black. No 122011. Several small edge-splits, repaired. Folds. One large cancellation hole. Text in French and Arabic script. At the time when this loan was issued (1869/1870), Tunisia was still part of the Ottoman Empire. It was a period in which Tunisian international debt grew unmanageable. This was the reason or pretext for French forces to establish a Protectorate in 1881. This is the oldest scripophily from Tunisia we have ever recorded in our database.
