SHANGHAI. Debenture of $10.000. purple, black. No E00922. Folds. Large format bond, with a fine vignette of the Shanghai city council offices. Part of Shanghai, before the Japanese invasion in 1940, was an International Settlement, and various foreign countries administered their own parts of the city. This bond was issued by the British-administered council of Shanghai. Issued to the Oversea Chinese Banking Corporation Ltd. (OCBC Bank). Founded in 1932, this is currently one of the leading banks of the world, in particular in Asia. This top denomination is surely extremely rare and was never before in our auctions.
